DougMacRay617. •. whereas the 1301 feels cheap and flimsy (flimsier than my $1200 Winchester sx4) if you honestly feel this way then don't bother with either guns. the 1301 is ultra reliable and extremely lightweight, the m4 is also a great shotgun but it won't cycle lighter loads as reliably as the 1301.Subs a lot of plastic in - Makes the gun lighter which means you could likely maneuver it faster. It's plastic though which can also be a downside for some people. Significantly cheaper - ~$1200 for a 1301 LE vs ~$1800+ for an M4. Has the Beretta name behind it and a pretty good track record in normal use and competitions.

The best shotguns for home defense in 2023 are: Beretta 1301. Remington 870 Police. Mossberg 590A1. Benelli M4. Our choices for home defense shotguns haven’t changed over the last few years. However, there are a couple shotguns that are newer to the market that are worth keeping an eye on.
