The new recipes do differ from the Project Zomboid recipes though. The long spears can be made by tanging or socketing the head onto the shaft instead of taping them to the side, like with normal knives and shovels, which I think makes a much more solid joint. The sticky tape option remains though.

Just go axes or long blunt or long blade if you have loot up. I use them from beginning to end. If you keep knives on you you can craft them from things you find all over the place, branches or planks you find from broken doors, furniture you break down, or logs you saw into planks.
