Jun 8, 2013 / John Deere 14SB. #2. This is from the Shop manual for John Deere mowers from that era. 1 = Derived from 21-inch cutting width. 2 = 2-Cycle Engine Design. 4 = 4-Cycle Engine Design. B = Blade Brake Clutch (BBC) C = Commercial Mower.To replace the belt on that mower you must first disconnect the spark plug. Remove the blade and the center bolt that holds the blade clutch on. Remove the 3 bolts that hold the engine on. Remove the engine and install the new belt. Reverse the directions for reassembly. CJ. I have a John Deere 14SB that I've been using for quite some time, fantastic mower. A year or so ago, the right rear wheel stopped self propelling. The left rear wheel still worked, so it wasn't a major issue. Recently the right rear (working) wheel began locking up at random. Then self propelled stopped working on it, too. Notes/symptoms:My John Deere mower is a 14SB with silver paint which has failed the cast iron clutch housing do to hitting a Osage orange tree branch.
