Drove Pete '13 with Paccar, then got a '15 Pete also with the Paccar. The 2 engines were night & day. The earliest version (in the '13) did not have a fuel rail system that works, so had all of the problems pulling hills as mentioned plus my check engine light would come on 10+ times a day. Those are all very expensive parts. He also said a turbo was a ridiculous amount of money. When I was truck shopping he said stay away from the paccar. New Cummins he said was good. I have a mx13 and love the engine very reliable and good power for the size of the engine. No leaks and does not use oil. Very easy to maintain yourself. As far as longevity my brother and his wife run team air freight their trk just went passed 1 million with the mx 13. Still doing well and still getting good oil sample results. PACCAR MX-13 EPA2017 engines may have a faulty Oil Bypass Valve located in the Oil Filter Cap assembly. The plastic retaining tabs could break off and put the lubrication system into an unfiltered state. An improved oil thermostat is also available for this same population of vehicles and will be installed at this time.
