The TL, DR version is that Ruger bought a lot of parts and all the rights and technical packages in Remington's bankruptcy sale, then in late 2021 announced the return of the M1895- a .45.70 "big loop" that runs $1,479- if you can get one. Well, people were excited that the 336 was inbound, as it was a less expensive .30-30 deer rifle.

In 2021, the 1895 was the first Ruger-made Marlin to roll off the new production lines, and judging from my experiences with the rifle, Ruger got it right. Marlin introduced the 336 Classic earlier this year, much to the delight of deer hunters who had been asking for a 336 ever since Ruger decided to carry the Marlin brand forward.
